We are in mourning. But we must accept that this was a sudden, unexpected tragedy

Simbi Phiri, a prominent business magnate in the country, has condemned citizens who are attempting to politicize the passing of Vice President Dr. Saulos Klaus Chilima, who tragically died in a plane crash on Monday.

Simbi warns that spreading narratives of hate and suspicion can easily plunge the country into turmoil and chaos, potentially resulting in the deaths of innocent Malawians.

In an interview with Zodiak Television, Simbi said, “Spreading false claims and inciting hatred only serves to destabilize our country, which is already facing significant challenges. Such actions can instill fear and unrest among the populace. It's disrespectful to share images of the deceased on social media in such a manner.”

Simbi Phiri emphasized the importance of the nation coming together to pay their last respects to Chilima and honor him even in his death.

“We are in mourning. But we must accept that this was a sudden, unexpected tragedy,” Phiri stated.

He urged citizens to remember that they still have a country
