The Copyright Fund Committee on the 8th of December 2022, announced the results of successful proposals to all media houses through a press conference. It had earmarked   MK75,000,000.00 to be awarded to successful applicants for the 1st Call for Proposals. Story Club is among the successful applicants granted MK3,766,000.00
On the 30th of September 2022, the Copyright Fund launched its 1st Call for Proposals. The closing date for submission of proposals was on 31st October 2022. From 5th to 10th November 2022 the Copyright Fund Committee evaluated the applications. The fund received 110 applications from countrywide. The projects were in the categories of Publishing, Heritage preservation, Performing Arts, Visual Arts, and those that were Cross-Cutting.
 According to the Copyright Fund Guidelines, two stages of evaluation were conducted namely Administrative Screening which was based on the availability of a copy of a National ID, Curricula Vitae or Profile of the applicant, Postal Address, Physical Address, Telephone NO, and Email; Declaration of Applicant indicating Name, Date, Signature, and Oath signed and stamped by Commissioner for Oath.  Following the administrative screening, 50 applications did not qualify for the next stage of evaluation which was the technical evaluation stage.
The Technical Evaluation Stage was based on relevance with the fund priorities, quality of application, quality of results, monitoring and evaluation, sustainability of project results, and budget. Out of the 60 that went to the technical stage, 12 scored 75% which was the requirement to be awarded the grant and above, and 4 scored between 70% and 74%.
According to The Copyright Fund Committee, they will disburse funds within the month of January 2023 and start monitoring the projects from February 2023.
