The signed MoU outlines joint efforts in program production, youth engagement, community outreach, and digital content development.

In a groundbreaking move aimed at empowering Malawi’s youth and advancing the Malawi 2063 development agenda, Story Club FM has signed a one-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Youth Council of Malawi (NYCOM). The partnership solidifies a strategic collaboration to produce and broadcast youth-centered programs that address pressing issues, amplify young voices, and create opportunities for the youth across the country.

The official signing ceremony, held on Thursday, 5 June 2025, brought together key representatives from both institutions and marked a significant milestone in the shared commitment to invest in the youth the largest demographic group in Malawi.

Speaking at the event, NYCOM Executive Director Mr. Rex Chapota emphasized the critical role young people play in shaping the future of the nation. He stated, “The youth are not just the leaders of tomorrow, but the drivers of today’s transformation. Through this partnership with Story Club FM, we aim to give them the platform, tools, and mentorship they need to thrive and actively contribute to national development. The 2063 agenda cannot be achieved without their full and meaningful participation.”

Story Club FM, known for its dynamic, art-driven and socially conscious programming, will take the lead in producing and airing a youth-focused radio show that will also be disseminated across its digital media platforms. The program is set to spotlight youth perspectives on various development issues, promote youth-led initiatives, and provide a safe space for open dialogue, creativity, and innovation.

Story Club FM Managing Director, Mrs. Yamikani Chikoti, expressed the station’s vision to help young people reclaim their narratives and steer their futures with confidence. “At Story Club FM, we believe the youth in Malawi are talented, resilient, and full of potential. What they often lack is direction, mentorship, and platforms to express themselves. This partnership is about filling that gap. It’s about giving them a stage to share their stories, ideas, and solutions,” she said.

Chikoti further emphasized that the station is not just creating content, it is building a movement. “We are here to change the narrative. We want every young person in Malawi to know that they matter, their voice counts, and their contribution to the nation’s growth is invaluable.”

The signed MoU outlines joint efforts in program production, youth engagement, community outreach, and digital content development. The collaboration is expected to reach thousands of young people in both rural and urban settings, ensuring inclusivity and diversity in the voices represented.

As the country continues its journey toward achieving the Malawi 2063 goals, the Story Club FM and NYCOM partnership stands out as a beacon of hope and progress demonstrating what is possible when institutions come together with a shared vision of empowering the next generation
